About Cynthia K Heidebrecht, CPA/PFS, CMA, CIA
A desire to serve others, a passion for accounting, and a love for people brings joy to the heart of Cynthia (Cindy) Heidebrecht. The people that she meets every day make life rewarding for her. Her love for God and her family are most important to her. Husband Larry R. Friedt, PhD, a retired clinical psychologist, is her beloved, trusted advisor, counselor, and encourager. She treasures her relationship with her two sons. Stephen is a biologist, currently working for the Department of Agriculture in Worcester, Massachusetts. David's life passion is cycling. Between training and racing, he has received his bachelor's degrees in finance and accounting from University of Wyoming and Florida State University and graduate studies in taxation.
She enjoys visiting family and friends in her hometown of Washington, Iowa. Cindy has resided in Virginia, Ohio, Louisiana, Texas, and Wyoming where she enjoys many long term friendships.
Her interest in accounting began while working for the Louisiana state government. After receiving her master's degree in accountancy from University of Wyoming, she settled in Worland, Wyoming, enjoying a short time in public accounting and seven years as fixed asset management and tax management at Admiral Beverage Corporation and its sister franchises. Some of her special skills were developed while doing corporate jet accounting and taxation and an ERP implementation. Besides being a Texas certified public accountant, Cindy also has a management accountant (CMA) and internal audit certification (CIA). She also recently added the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) certification.
||The influence of great mentors has influenced her career path and development. Her passion for the Institute of Management Accountants and accounting and business students kindled these mentor/mentee relationships. Cindy currently serves on the global board of directors for the Institute of Management Accountants. Previously, Cindy served as a student member of the IMA Committee on Students and the Ethics Committee. She also chaired the Students and Scholarship Committee for the Stuart Cameron McLeod Society whose membership and donations provide a $5,000 scholarship annually to a deserving IMA student member.|
The 2012-2013 award went to Lisa Nichole Button of Culver-Stockton College. She is also a member of the Austin Institute of Management Accountants chapter, the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the American Institute of CPAs including the tax and financial planning sections.
Recently, Cindy was accepted as a board member for the Austin not-for-profit organization, Aware Awake Alive, dedicated to preventing the loss of life to alcohol poisoning by educating teens, young adults and parents about alcohol overdose and instrumental in advocating the 911 life line legislation throughout the United States.
Cindy is a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, Texas and has served as Sunday School teacher, worship team member, and Assistant Treasurer and Treasurer of the First Southern Baptist Church in Worland, Wyoming. Music inspires her. She has also lead Precept Upon Precept Inductive Bible Studies for a number of years. She has enjoyed singing with the Worland, Wyoming PSALM choir. For relaxation in the evening, she sometimes makes melody on her Clavinova. She also enjoys bicycling and has aspirations to repeat the Iowa RAGBRAI tour again.
